Automatic Electric Potato Apple Peeler and Salad Spinner
[AOT-P01A]
£29.99

I bought this because I found that I dont have time to stand there and peel potatoes every time, its probably the most boring part of cooking. My mother was a chef and had an industrial potato peeler where she worked and it used to fascinate me as a child. I never knew that there was a domestic version made until I looked on the Amazon website. Looking through the reviews, I found that this one had far more favourable comments than the most popular one so this is why I purchased this particular machine.. On my first go with this, I put the required amount of water in with the potatoes and turned it on. Since the instructions say that it only needs two or three cupfuls, I put in two and turned it on. I was surprised that it was so noisy and jumped about a bit as it went. I had also made one big mistake: I'd let it run for two minutes (the instructions say no more than four) before turning it off. However, when I opened the lid, I found there was only around three or four very small potatoes left. The rest had turned to a gungey mess in the water. My next attempt was far more successful. After putting the same amount of potatoes (about five average size) and with the same amount of water, I let it run for only forty seconds before opening the lid. And there were the five perfectly peeled potatoes, I only needed to remove one eye that was still there. So beware that this machine is ultra efficient in its task so don't run it for very long at all to achieve the perfect result. The only thing that I would critisise it for is that the two small switches, one on the bowl and one on the lid are a bit fiddly to get into place after washing the machine out, because if they're not lined up correctly then the machine wont start. After a few times using it though I finally got the hang of it.
